Agile India 2013 –Enterprise Agile Transformation Meets Agile Practices

Agile India 2013 took place on February 27 through March 2 in the IT hotspot of Bangalore, India. I attended both as a conference delegate and as a corporate sponsor, as CollabNet was one of the corporate sponsors of the event. There was a lot to like in this conference – it was well organized, there were great speakers, and I saw an engaged audience.

The organizers split the conference into two sections – the first two days were focused on management aspects of Agile (“Management Agility”), and the second two days were focused on more technical aspects (“Technical Agility”). It is interesting how closely this organization maps into CollabNet itself.

As you look at the management aspects of Agile, you’re considering ways to optimize team dynamics, improve collaboration, and implement an organizational structure that helps companies get the most from their Agile teams. A lot of the focus of this part of the conference was on how to practice Agile in large-scale, enterprise development projects. CollabNet’s dedicated Agile Business Unit, under the leadership of Laszlo Szalvay, is focused on that very thing. Tooling is a secondary concern.  Laszlo’s team is dedicated to helping enterprises transform themselves into lean, mean Agile shops, regardless of the tools that are used.

The days focused on technical agility took into consideration Agile practices like continuous integration, continuous delivery, code review, configuration management and so on. These verge into tooling.  Open source is a major driver in this tooling. Here at CollabNet, our tools provide the infrastructure required to fully support complex Agile practices such as those mentioned above. The fact that we embrace open source (we’re the inventors of Subversion, after all) is critical.

Compared to last year, this conference was much bigger in scope, had more attendees, was a full day longer for exhibition, and had brand new workshops. Agile adoption continues to accelerate, as evidenced by the growth of attendance in the conference – from 738 attendees last year to 913 this year. We are proud to have been a part of it.

At CollabNet, we know that it can be challenging getting started with Agile and we want you to know we’re here to help. To accelerate your Agile transformation, we are offering you 50% off an Agile Assessment which is a great value and vital to a successful development foundation.  Also to kick start your path to success, we’re giving you on-demand access to these great Scrum resources: The Scrum Reference Card, Scrum Master Checklist, Agile Tips Video Series, and Scrum Training Series.

Enjoy the Scrum resources and we hope to see you at the next industry event!
