I’ve always been a big fan of ReadWriteWeb – the popular technology blog. They have a great channel called ReadWriteCloud that covers virtualization and cloud computing – I’d highly encourage subscribing if you haven’t already.
Each week they publish a poll to get community feedback. This week’s poll asks “What are the First Issues to Consider on the Road to Cloud Computing?”
The author says that companies start moving to virtualized infrastructure when they start experiencing performance issues – server failures, application load increases. While we do hear this a fair bit from our customers, I’d say the primary reason for moving to our cloud infrastructure is the ease of new deployments coupled with the reduction in maintenance and backup headaches.
The survey has only received 38 votes so far, but the results are as follows. Why did you move to the cloud? What considerations do you have for making the move – either completely or a hybrid approach?
